According to the Malaysian Department of Statistics on November 9, 2023 September exports of asphaltene increased by 4.6% year-on-year to 57,028 tons, down 0.8% from the previous year. Of which 45.7% exported to China, the other in order of Germany 5.3%, Pakistan 5.3%, Portugal 2.9%, Turkey 2.3%.
September Malaysia's import volume of 88,845 tons of rubber, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year, an increase of 46.6% from the previous year. Standard rubber, concentrated latex, and other shapes of natural rubber were the main import categories, with Thailand, Cote d'Ivoire, the Philippines, and Myanmar as their main import source countries.
Total monitorable natural rubber production in September was 32,773 tons, down 7.6% year-on-year and up 4.7% sequentially. Small plantation plantation production accounted for 85.6% of the total, while state-owned plantation production accounted for 14.4%.
In the third quarter, the country's natural rubber production increased by 19.6% to 92,615 tons from 77,453 tons in the second quarter, and decreased by 16.5% from 110,969 tons in the same period of 2022.
Malaysia's natural rubber stocks stood at 154,103 tons in September, up 7.7% sequentially and down 22.4% year-on-year. Of these stocks, 88.4% were concentrated in the hands of rubber processors, 11.5% in downstream terminal stocks, and 0.1% in large plantation owners' stocks.
Total domestic consumption of natural rubber in September fell 15.7% year-on-year to 24,492 tons, down 2.7% from a year earlier. The latex glove industry remains the mainstay of Malaysia's tenpin consumption, accounting for 72.4% of consumption, 7.6% of tire and hose consumption, 8.1% of rubber thread, and 11.9% of other industries.
